Analysis for Paper on B-only Calling
First try at fitting the fundamental. Feb. 23, 2005
Statistics, Graphs and Distributions. Data sample consists of 839 events, selected by hand, from the B- only calling sequence of October 11, 2001 (day 284). RWB scanned this sequence on the spectrograms and recorded the x and y pixel numbers for the center of the third-harmonic call. Michael's fitting program fit the events, giving 838 fits.

The fit used envelope-power-weighted centering iterated several times, and 5 fits, with ngate = 100, 300, 500, 1000, and 3000 points (+/-). A sixth fit (the "cheating fit") uses ngate = 3000, but with the starting values of the parameters set to the phi0 value calculated to start off with, and f0 = 16.00, dfdt = -0.045 Hz/sec.

Exit-status statistics. ( plotbw1.pro) 2-D plots of alpha vs f0, all events 2-D plots of res2 vs nchi2, all events 2-D plots of alpha vs f0, convergent events 2-D plots of alpha vs f0, good (nchi2 < .7), convergent events 2-D plots of alpha vs f0, progression from bad to good fits
