Minutes from the May 10, 2004 PAC meeting Hello PAC-ites! Congratulations to all you spring GRE takers. I heard rumors that all did very well! Just a few notes from our most recent PAC meeting: Those running for PAC/SPS office introduced themselves. Quickly they are:
Get your votes in today (just respond to this email) Some of you might have noticed the new printer/scanner in the PAC room. It's almost up and running, but it turns out we have to pick up a new USB card (or something like that). So stand by, it will be functional soon! It does have color capabilities but we ask that you use the color sparingly. You MUST LOCK the PAC room door EVEN WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE!! There have been WAY too many incidences when the PAC room door has been unlocked. New policy-lock it right away!!!! This is imperative! We purchased several hundred dollars in new office supplies for the PAC room. We will not release them all at once to prolong their usage. Things tend to dissappear days to weeks after being put in the PAC room. Get your stinky food out of the fridge. I don't know when, but sometime soon, we will be throwing out all the unlabelled food in the PAC fridge. So if it's yours, and you want it, label it!!!!! T-shirts will hopefully be here by the end of the semester. But since we're all bogged down with finals, it might not be til next fall. We all apologize greatly to those graduates that might not get a t-shirt. Mark Ciotola is requesting anyone with a flare for creativity to join his planetarium production team. The topic is "The Trial of Galileo". The audience members will be presented with evidence from both sides of the debate with people who will play star witnesses (that's where you come in). Then the audience will decide whether or not Galileo deserves the punishment he got. PAC set aside money to give students to assist them in going to conferences. Priority is given to people who are presenting. You must let PAC officers know in advance of the conference how much you are requesting. And if awarded, write a one page summary of your conference experience including what you learned. There is a minimum unit requirement (9 for undergrads, 6 for grads). Congratulations to Marcus Asaro, Dennis Lamenti, Louise Riofiro, and Leah Zimmerman for their awards. Stay tuned for their writeups. Graduation is Friday May 28. It will be fun! Don't forget: the really fun trip to Ferguson comes early in the fall. For those that don't know, we all drive up to some place in Sonoma county (I think) and get to view the beautiful night sky through their very large telescope. We barbeque that night and all are invited to camp out under the stars. It's tons of fun! I know, I went last year. |
