Announcements
Thanks to Basil Vlahos for going to the swap shop and getting a new monitor for the PAC computer.

There is a way to get funds for student travel and registration for conferences. We'll put this up in an accessible place when we have more info.

Private flight school (April)
Starts next week! (Feb 12, 6:30-9:30 TH411) Please sign up on sheet in PAC room. Bring a checkbook to purchase texts. (See also upcoming email. Any questions, please ask April)

High-school tutoring position (Andy)
Monday - Thursday 3-5pm. There are volunteer & possible paid position ($10-15/hr). Please contact LeilanaNisperol at (415) 695-5370x216 or Teachdana@yahoo.com

Soccer (Cara)
Intramurals, sign up on the chalkboard there was a preliminary meeting after the PAC meeting, talk to Jay or Craig if you want to get involved (even if you suck). GO DEMONS!

          There is wish list up on the bulletin board. Volunteers to make runs to Rainbow, let Andy know at andy@stars.sfsu.edu

          PAC logo (Jay)
          We'll have all of the options put up on the board. Vote! Any of the logos can be in any color or font. T-shirt design contest: come up with some ideas and let us know.

          Fundraiser/Initiative (Richard)
          Public service initiative -- software, seminars
          Survey -- what do we need to help students to help them improve their grades? If you have input in what the survey covers, email Richard at rstrahan@stars.sfsu.edu. Richard will email the survey to PAC members for their responses. Fundraising for additional funds. Ideas? Email Richard. Email Mark Ciotola if you are interested in getting together for a Wed evening meeting to talk about new ideas in Physics once a week. We'll talk about getting PAC funds for food if enough folks are interested.

          Chore wheel (Nate)
          People aren_t cleaning up enough in the PAC room, so we are going to start a chore list and a sign-up sheet. This is NOT to say that you should stop cleaning up after yourself. Remember that the PAC room is a public space, so please CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF!!

          Email (Daryl)
          If you would like to have another account listed on the PAC email list, talk to Daryl. Please do not use your stars account to send out political messages. Officially, that account is to be used for educational purposes. You may send a political message from your yahoo or hotmail account, but PLEASE check your sources before forwarding messages.

          Office supplies (any posters welcome to hang in PAC room) (Nate)
          Tape despenser, 3-hole punch, erasers, lead Wish list is on the bulletin board
          Swap Shop -- some things available there. A scanner maybe?? If not, could discretionary funds be used to purchase one directly?

          Subscriptions - $300 were set aside

          • Science $125 - many votes
          • Nature (weekly) $99 -- many votes
          • Sky and Tel $39.95 -- Jason will make sure that it gets into the PAC room from the observatory
          • Scientific American $24.97 -- 10 votes
          • Astronomy $39.95 -- about 10 votes
          • Science News $34.00 -- about half of votes
          • National Geographic $54.50 -- about half of votes

          April is willing to set up a way to distribute the info, so that we know how to access the online info and where everything is being kept.

          Conferences
          Please talk to us if you are going to be presenting info at a conference. We will try to fund some of the costs.

          Baby Jesse
          We need to get a present for him. If you have ideas, email Daryl within this next week.

          Colloqiums
          We have potential new faculty members. Come to the colloqiums! 4pm most Mondays and many Fridays in February and March. Daryl will email schedule.

          This Friday, Debra Fischer is coming! She's from SFSU (originally) and has been doing cutting-edge research in extrasolar planet research.
