I have had interests in history, archaeology and astronomy as long as I can remember. In the Fall of 2000 I developed an interest in the ancient Maya of Guatemala and specifically their ancient city of Tikal. The ancient Maya incorporated their interest in the celestial into their culture and architecture. Based on my interests, this led me to an investigation of their astronomy at Tikal.
I have spent two winters in Guatemala (2001 & 2002) and during those visits I spent several days on site at Tikal. Prior to, and after each of these trips, I have spent countless hours pouring over the scientific liturature, maps and charts and have come to some conclusions about what may have gone on at Tikal.
