- UCB Summer Research Opportunities Program (
SROP) (underrepresented minority and women undergraduates)
- Summer Research Opportunities at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory
(LBL)
- SLAC (Palo Alto CA) has a summer program which has accepted
several of our students in the past. The director of this program,
Helen Quinn, is a well known particle physicist and a friend of our
Department. See their "for students" website.
- The Department of Energy (DOE) undergraduate fellowship program.
- Berkeley Edge:
a newly established recruitment, retention and advancement program
for traditionally underrepresented minority graduate students in
science, mathematics and engineering. ["Underrepresented minorities"
in this case means African Americans, Chicanos/Latinos/Hispanics,
American Indians, Alaskan Natives, or Pacific Islanders.]
- The National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for
Undergraduates (REU) program funds universities and other
institutions to set up internship programs. (We have had two at SFSU
in the past.)
