Getting XWIN32 X-Window Emulator
XWIN32 is a X-window emulation program which runs on MS-Windows.
It is now used widely in the School of Science for computers directly
connected to the ethernet.
However, it can be run over a serial line from a home computer.
A free trial version is available for downloading over the
network from Starnet.
Look under XWIN-32 and XWIN-64.
Select the appropriate Download listing,
then register in order to
download a free trial version which runs for thirty minutes,
then shuts down.
This is long enough for many purposes.
Version 5.2 runs for 30 minutes.
Previous versions of the demo program, v. 5.1 and earlier, run for 2 hours.
(They have fewer bells and whistles.)
The P&A Dept. has spooled one such copy here.
