Using PCPLOT Over a Serial Line for Tektroniks 4010 Mode Graphics
A program is available for MS-Windows which handles some graphics over a
serial line. It is called PCPLOT. Ask someone who uses it (R. Bland for
example) how to obtain it.
This program will run in place of a serial communications program like PROCOMM.
You can start IDL and execute command lines.
When you request graphics, it toggles to graphics memory and puts them up.
It is not too slow.
NOTE: ALT-W gets you back to text mode.
From IDL, you must execute the command
before plotting. This sets the graphics mode to Tektroniks 4010.
I find that I can log on with my normal communications
program. Then (under Windows 3.11) go to the program manager and run
PCPLOT. It receives the serial stream from IDL and works fine.
