hi folks

as some of you may know (well, not many) i am going to be spending a year
at the south pole as a science tech, running about 8 expts for various
scientists. its the opportunity of a lifetime and there is room for at
least one more!! 

they are looking for a cryogenics tech/science tech. not sure of the exact
job description but they're ideal candidate is someone with a B.S. in a
hard science and with some experience with liquid helium. the tech work of
the science tech part seems prett y straightforward to me (i'm in the last
week of a month of training)--lots of DOS based computer controlled data
acquisition, bizarre little bits of homebuilt and off the shelf
electronics. there may be an official job description at www.polar.org or
rps c.raytheon.com

the pay is good--i'm getting 900/week plus all food and housing is paid
for. it is extremely cold down there, altho they issue you all the clothes
you need to stay warm and dry. anyone interested in the job please contact

people. my ability to check email is going to be a little hit and miss
until i am back home on tuesday, and i deploy for antarctica on the 14th
