Suggestions for Courses

by grad student Michelle Krok

SFSU Physics & Astronomy Department

So you've begun a physics degree at SFSU. This page has been created to give you, grad and undergrad alike, some pointers
on how to make it through. I did not ace every one of these courses (don’t I wish). This page contains suggestions so that you can
‘be in-the-know’ about the nature of each course: how you can best be prepared, and how each professor operates...
basically I'm sharing the things I wish I were told before each course.

Astronomy 321, Observational Astronomy (Dr. Adrienne Cool)

Astronomy 470/770, Observational Astronomy (Dr. Ron Marzke)

Computer Science 209, Intro. to Computer Programming (Dr. William Hsu)

Computer Science 211, Intro. To Computer Programming Lab (Computer Science TA's)

Physics 370, Thermodynamics (Dr. Golterman)

Physics 385, Theoretical Physics (Dr. Roger Bland)

Physics 785, Theoretical Physics (Dr. Susan Lea)

Physics 722, Astrophysics (Dr. Barranco)

Science 750/850, Introduction to Science Education, Pedagogy, and Partnership (Dr. Kimberly Tanner and Allison Busch)

I will then add your link to this site.
